Petrus Didimus Didi Dermawan, SH., LL.M. is a graduate of the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (1984) and Tulane Law School, New Orleans, Louisiana (LL.M., 1989). He participated in the development lawyer training program at International Development Law Institute (IDLI, now IDLO), Rome, Italy, in 1988 (with scholarship from USAID, Washington).

He is an advocate appointed by the Minister of Justice and a member of the Indonesian Bar Association (IKADIN). He is an advocate with 22 years experience in corporate and commercial law, and of counseling DNC. His deep knowledge of Indonesian law caused him to be called as expert witness on Indonesian law in proceedings before the foreign court and arbitration. He has worked on a wide range of projects and transactions, i.e., on PBH (revenue sharing arrangement) telecommunication project and its financing, and oil concession project in Vietnam. He has a unique combination of expertise. In Banking and Finance, he works with lenders and borrowers in numerous financings and restructurings, and with financial institutions in product development and structuring. He drafted and prepared the documentation for the formation of the first three mutual funds (i.e., Mawar, Melati and Anggrek). He also worked on the first derivative cases before the Indonesian court and the London court (representing Bankers Trust Company and Bankers Trust International Plc), and on the first securitization deal (representing Citibank, N.A., for securitization of Citibank’s credit card receivables). He is very resourceful, creative and practical in his thinking, which makes him an excellent advocate to work on Merger and Acquisition, and on anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy of intellectual property. In this respect, he has successfully planned and executed the biggest raids ever against major counterfeiters of cigarettes (for BAT and Brown & Williamson), computer programs (for members of the Business Software Alliance), and books (for members of the Association of American Publishers). He worked on and won the first bankruptcy case before the Indonesian commercial court (representing PT Ometraco Corporation against petition filed by American Express Bank cs.).

During his study at the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia, he received scholarship from Summa International for 5 straight years and was active in campus politic (he was member of Students Senate (SM) and elected member of Students Representative Body (BPM)).

He enjoys reading. He takes aikido class, and spends his spare time doing his favorite sports, i.e., table tennis, shooting, bowling and tai-chi.
